During a press conference at CES 2022, John Deere revealed a fully autonomous tractor that’s ready for large-scale production. The machine combines Deere’s 8R Tractor, TruSet™-enabled chisel plow, GPS guidance system, and new advanced technologies. The autonomous tractor will be available to farmers later this year.

The autonomous tractor has six pairs of stereo cameras, which enables 360-degree obstacle detection and the calculation of distance. Images captured by the cameras are passed through a deep neural network that classifies each pixel in approximately 100 milliseconds and determines if the machine continues to move or stops, depending on if an obstacle is detected. The autonomous tractor is also continuously checking its position relative to a geofence, ensuring it is operating where it is supposed to, and is accurate to within less than 1 inch.

To use the autonomous tractor, farmers only need to transport the machine to a field and configure it for autonomous operation. Using John Deere Operations Center Mobile, they can swipe from left to right to start the machine. While the machine is working, the farmer can leave the field to focus on other tasks while monitoring the machine’s status from their mobile device.

This is a new and exciting, ground-breaking development in modern farming methods, with technology at the forefront of everything we do, the team at Hunt Forest Group are looking forward to the launch of the Autonomous 8R and bringing our customers more information and insight into the technical features and functionality involved over the coming months.

Renowned chef and television presenter James Martin has become the proud owner of a new John Deere Gator.

Supplied by John Deere dealer Hunt Forest Group from its Chilbolton branch in Hampshire, James now has a 4×4 road legal utility vehicle which is perfect for his outdoor pursuits.

The XUV865M model has a towing capacity of 907kg and has a maximum load weight of 454kg – perfect for heavy or bulky loads. Additionally, it reaches a top speed of 31mph.

Ed Smales, Turf & Construction Sales Director at Hunt Forest Group, said: “It was great to see James and help facilitate him with a machine suitable for exploring the great British countryside that he is such an advocate of.

“The XUV865M Gator is absolutely perfect for James to get around in the Hampshire countryside where he is based. Featuring on-demand 4WD and the highest ground clearance of any of our crossovers, the vehicle frees the driver to focus on what’s ahead and go to places other models can’t in tricky conditions.

“With fully independent suspension, power steering, and top-of-the-line power, capacity and comfort, we think James will be perfectly equipped for new adventures and exploring a variety of terrains in his new vehicle.”

At the handover, James was very pleased with his new purchase, giving it a ringing endorsement in his own personal way.

“It’s a proper piece of kit,” he said.

The Isuzu D-Max has been named the Best Value Pick-up of the Year by renowned
specialist publication 4×4 Magazine. Having collected the Pick-up of the Year accolade
in 2021, the Isuzu D-Max has continued this winning trend by being awarded the Best
Value title for 2022.

The All-New Isuzu D-Max, which launched earlier this year, combines smart, bold, and
aggressive styling, and improved off-road performance with class-leading safety
technology. Not only does it deliver the capability and durability you would expect from
an Isuzu pick-up truck, but this tough workhorse has also now added superior levels of
comfort, refinement, and next-generation technology.

Appealing to a wide variety of drivers, from fleet operators to families, the Isuzu D-Max
model range is structured into three segments: Business, All-Purpose and Adventure,
resulting in an Isuzu D-Max to suit every customer’s requirement.

Alan Kidd, Editor at 4×4 Magazine said “The Isuzu D-Max won Pick-up of the Year last
year after we first drove it, so we’ve not been at all surprised by the enormous demand
Isuzu has encountered since sales began. And one of the reasons why people are
queueing up to buy them is that Isuzu has priced them very smartly indeed.”

He continued, “Isuzu has come to market with a range of models which undercut their
direct rivals – so for less money, you get one of the newest and best trucks on the
market, with famous reliability, rock-solid residuals and a monster of a warranty. No
wonder people are putting their faith in the Isuzu D-Max.”

Alan Able, Brand Director, Isuzu UK said “Collecting the award for Best Value Pick-up
of the Year is a great way to end 2021. With the launch of the All-New Isuzu D-Max
earlier in the spring and the expansion of the dealer network throughout the year, this
has been a very exciting and rewarding time for Isuzu UK.”

The Best Value Pick-up of the Year is available from £21,009 for Single Cab Utility
models, with Extended Cab Utility priced from £23,759 and Double Cab versions
