More comfort and power for specialty tractors

John Deere’s 5G series tractors now offer more model diversity and comfort for the varied tasks involved in high-value crop farming. The series has undergone a complete update for all tractors above 75hp, including five new, more powerful models in the GV, GN, GF and GL configuration.

New features for cab versions

A key new 5G feature is the five-speed Hi-Lo PowrReverserTM Eco-transmission, which enables travel at 40kph with reduced engine revolutions, making the tractors more fuel efficient and more comfortable to drive.

To meet individual customer requirements, new models have been added to the 5G Series. Chief of these are the new 5115 tractors for the GF, GN and GV model series that deliver up to 120hp max. power from a 3.6l four-cylinder engine. Furthermore, John Deere offers more power versatility for operation in the tightest rows in the vineyard as the GV model range gets two new power ranges – the 5105G and 5115G with a maximum power of 105 and 120hp respectively.

Tailored to the operator
The redesigned cab is now better adapted to the driver’s needs. The new design offers improved ergonomics as well as more legroom, which increases driving comfort and makes working with the new 5G tractors an even more enjoyable task. A significantly reduced bonnet height provides an unrivalled view to the front. More visibility, especially during the night, is also provided by the optionally available LED lighting.

While the new cab makes the work more comfortable, the driver’s health will also benefit. The Category IV filter system (in accordance with EN 15695) integrated into the roof of the driver’s cab is optionally available and provides protection against dust, aerosols that are hazardous to health, and vapours.

Another highlight of the latest 5G Series tractors is the new 5-inch digital display, which presents important vehicle information centrally in front of the driver and even allows various tractor- and machine settings to be changed conveniently.

Tailored to efficiency
The new tractors are not only easier to operate, they are also getting smarter. The tractors can optionally be equipped with ISOBUS and retrofitted with the JD-Link telematics module. This allows the tractors to be connected to the free of charge John Deere Operations Center, which saves time and money. Operations can be digitised and planned more easily as state-of-the-art fleet management tools come with the tractor for free.

To manage the work on steep slopes and narrow rows even more efficiently, the tractors can be equipped with comprehensive features such as DYNAMIC STEERING and AutoClutch. With DYNAMIC STEERING, steering wheel resistance automatically changes with ground speed. At slower speeds, the steering effort required is significantly reduced, especially during tight turning manoeuvres, while higher steering wheel torque is made possible when driving on roads at transport speed. This improves the driver’s comfort and control over the tractor. The AutoClutch function makes it easier to maneuver on slopes, as the clutch is engaged with the brake pedal.

Additional updates for the 5G series

In orchards with low-hanging pergola crops, John Deere’s 5G series also offers an open station (OOS) or a low-profile cab. While a new 105hp tractor for the GL range offers more power versality, the larger driver’s seats provide more driving comfort for orchard work.

The tractors under 75hp have received the Stage V update already, retaining the known and proven properties of the predecessor models.

Huge congratulations to Gareth and all the team involved with the Isuzu brand at Hunt Forest Group, having launched two new dealerships and the new D-Max during a pandemic and the ongoing issues surrounding it, It is great to be recognised on a national level.

Here is to building on 2021’s success throughout 2022!

John Deere has been touring the length and breadth of the country for the past 6 weeks with their 6R Roadshow, stopping off at dealerships along the way to unveil the new 6R Series tractors to consumers. Early March was our scheduled time with the new machines. Recent changes to the restrictions due to COVID-19, allowed the team at Hunt Forest Group to finally be able to host our first in-person customer event for over 2 years.

Queue the 2nd and 3rd of March, deep in the rolling farmland of the South Wiltshire Downs. Staff, tractors, and a wide variety of other farm machinery from across our many branches descended upon The Gathering Barn at Keysley Farm. A picturesque wedding venue, hidden away on a working farm near Monkton Deverill. A marquee was erected, lighting and audio-visual equipment setup, new and used machinery positioned, a pop-up merchandise shop stocked to the brim, customer gift bags packed, and the event bar fully stocked as we awaited the arrival of our first guests.

The HFG Sales representatives were all on hand to greet and walk our customers around the new 6R tractors and the other machinery on display. With our heated marquee home to the new John Deere 6R 150 and loader with technology package, a John Deere 6R 185 and a Kramer KT144 it proved a great place to showcase the advancements and new developments in the 6R range.

Connected technology is advancing all the time and our Precision Ag team had plenty of visitors in the Long Barn to discuss the latest improvements in displays, receivers, RTK signals and much more, along with regular demonstrations on the benefits and functionality of the HarvestLab 3000. Our impromptu popup merchandise store saw plenty of customers with a wide range of John Deere toys, clothing, and official branded goods available for purchase, the co-branded HFG ‘Grassmen’ clothing range a proven success.

Good food and a few drinks were enjoyed by all in Keysley’s stunning converted heritage barn and helped to create a relaxed and sociable setting, with over 600 visitors across the two days at The Gathering Barn, it was a welcome return to customer events for the Hunt Forest Group team with the bonus of being able to talk to people face to face again without a mask.

A big thank you to all our staff, manufacturers, and suppliers for their involvement in helping deliver such a successful event. And an extra special thankyou to our customers for their attendance and continued support.

We look forward to seeing you at the next one!

Just eight months after launching its new generation 7R Series tractors at Agritechnica 2019, John Deere has announced another significant update to the range. The new flagship 7R 350 model offers an ideal power to weight ratio to deliver unmatched acceleration and transport efficiency.

The 7R Series models introduced in Hanover last November received a major upgrade with a brand new luxury cab, the CommandPRO joystick, a top-quality seat with massage function, DAB+ touchscreen radio with Apple CarPlay compatibility and a 6.1 speaker system, enhanced Precision Ag technology features and much more.

Featuring the stepless AutoPowr transmission as standard, the new top of the range 7R 350 tractor completes the 7R Series and can be ordered now from John Deere’s European dealer network. Developing up to 388hp with Intelligent Power Management and with a minimum shipping weight of only 11.4 tonnes, this latest model boasts an impressive power to weight ratio of just 29kg/hp.

At the same time, on all 7R Series tractors equipped with a 40kph transmission and front axle brakes, payload has been increased by two tonnes to match the maximum permissible weight of 18 tonnes. More flotation is also offered with the new availability of IF650/60R34 front tyres and up to IF900/60R42 rear tyres.

First-class steering capability is provided by the enhanced ActiveCommand Steering 2. This is an electronic system that uses a gyroscope to sense any tractor yaw and automatically compensates drift to stay perfectly on track. Operators are now able to adopt various settings in the CommandCentre display to match personal preferences.

Variable Ratio Steering can be turned on and off, steering sensitivity can be adjusted and steering wheel resistance can be tuned, all individually. The field proven and popular automatic reduction to 3.1 lock-to-lock steering remains available to allow quick and convenient headland manoeuvres.

John Deere has also expanded its digital offering. Complementary to the established Wireless Data Transfer between the tractor’s CommandCentre display and the remote computerised Operations Centre, the latest MyOperations app can now serve as a digital field record. Using the app, operators can document any task and know that the data will be safely stored in their personal Operations Centre account.

Of particular interest to contractors, the newly enhanced functionality of the MyJohnDeere.com Operations Centre now allows ISOXML boundary and documentation data to be imported from other displays and portals. This enables seamless data transfer and collaboration within mixed fleets and with different customers.

Lower costs per hour are also guaranteed with more favourable warranty terms, which are being introduced based on the proven reliability of these tractors in recent years. The standard factory warranty has doubled to two years or 2000 hours, the same as on John Deere 8R and 9R Series tractors. In additional, the optional PowerGard Protection/Plus warranty extension terms are now even more cost-effective, with terms reaching up to eight years or 8000 hours.

John Deere Connected Support also continues to provide major customer benefits, with a range of remote tools allowing dealer specialists to proactively support operators in getting the best from their machines. Expert Alerts in particular have proved to be key in reducing potential downtime to the absolute minimum.

John Deere has launched the all-new M Series front loaders for tractors up to 155hp.

Following the successful R Series announced in 2015, the extended John Deere range now includes an additional four models covering a variety of applications, from standard loader tasks to operations requiring premium performance and comfort. The M Series has been specifically designed for customers who need a versatile, lighter loader at an attractive price.

For tighter working areas often found on mixed or livestock farms, the slim boom profile results in good front visibility to the bucket, attachment points and around the tractor. All models come with a strong mechanical self-levelling (MSL) system, which provides extra breakout force to completely fill the bucket.

With 20 per cent less rear ballast required and 20 per cent less weight than the R Series models, M Series loaders are quick and manoeuvrable in work, with the 603M model for example capable of raising a bucket in four seconds.

All M Series loaders can be fitted with an optional suspension system, while the hydraulic components are routed internally to protect them from any potential impact. The loaders can use the same mounting frames as the established R Series, thus avoiding the need for fleet owners to adapt their existing tractors.

The M Series models are also fully compatible with John Deere front hitches, allowing full front axle oscillation and maximum steering angles while also leaving room to access the main tractor service points.

Available from May 2020, the new John Deere M Series front loaders fit 5M, 5R, 6M and 6R Series tractors up to the 6155M/R models.

John Deere has announced a number of updates to the company’s comprehensive compact tractor range for 2020, which includes 13 models in six Series from 25 to 66hp.

The main change is prompted by the latest Stage V emissions regulations in Europe, which are designed to limit ultrafine particulate emissions in all engines above 25hp (19kW). Ultrafine particulates are less than 0.1 microns in diameter, which is 700 times smaller than a human hair.

John Deere’s compact tractors rated at 25hp and below – the 1026R and 2026R, which remain unchanged, and the new 3025E – already meet the necessary standards. Other 2R and 3R Series models above 25hp get a new Yanmar 1.6-litre, three-cylinder TNV Series diesel engine that features a high torque reserve, providing plenty of power under heavy loads.

This uses the latest engine technologies to improve fuel economy, control and accuracy, while also reducing environmental impact as well as operating costs. It features a common rail system (CRS) and an electronic control unit (ECU), which continuously monitors engine conditions and adjusts fuel delivery to ensure optimum performance.

The engine’s new after-treatment system consists of a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), similar to that used successfully on John Deere’s larger agricultural tractors. This operates automatically to produce lower levels of exhaust emissions and reduced noise levels and meets all current requirements for Stage V emission standards.

At the top of the John Deere compact tractor range, the new 4052M and 4052R receive a larger 2.1-litre, four-cylinder engine with DPF. This is the same as the existing engine on the biggest 4066M and 4066R models, which remain unchanged, while several of the smaller 2R and 3R Series tractors are also given new model numbers.

In addition to the new engine, the 3R and 4R Series compact tractors will be equipped with a new eThrottle function integrated into the established eHydro transmission. This feature is designed to make the tractor quieter and more comfortable to use, as well as more fuel-efficient. With the simple push of a button, the engine speed is conveniently linked to the foot pedal position so that engine rpm and tractor speed can both be increased as the pedal is depressed.

The latest 4R Series models can also now be equipped with a StarFire satellite receiver and AutoTrac Universal automatic steering system. This is designed to help operators achieve higher levels of accuracy and input cost savings when working with implements such as amenity turf sprayers, seeders and spreaders.

On selected models, the award-winning Hitch Assist system makes coupling up implements and trailers to the tractor’s rear hitch or three-point linkage quicker, easier and safer. Using this system, external switches mounted on the rear fender allow the operator to move the tractor backwards and forwards at a maximum speed of 12mm/second and raise or lower the hitch as required.

Other advanced technology features on John Deere compact tractors include LoadMatch, MotionMatch and SpeedMatch operating modes for maximum versatility in a wide range of tractor applications, plus a choice of AutoConnect drive-over rotary mower decks.

Cabbed versions of John Deere’s new range of compact tractors for 2020 can be ordered now from UK & Ireland dealers, while open operator station models will be available from October.

John Deere has developed a completely new 6M Series tractor range, with higher standards of comfort, performance, manoeuvrability and visibility.

These replace the previous 6M, 6MC and 6RC Series and include four new four-cylinder models from 90 to 120hp, featuring a 2.4m wheelbase. This is a more compact 6M Series tractor than John Deere has offered before, with the low bonnet design presenting a clear view to the front of the machine. In addition, a slimmer steering wheel cowl and the newly designed panoramic window in the cab roof provides full visibility for loader work or operation in confined spaces.

Improved manoeuvrability is a result of the short wheelbase, which allows a tight turning circle of only 4.35m on the new four-cylinder models. Despite their slim design, these full-frame concept tractors feature a maximum permissible gross weight of 10.45 tonnes, which means an unrivalled payload capacity in this class of up to 4.7 tonnes.

All these latest 6M Series tractors feature a newly designed cab that is significantly brighter and more modern in appearance, as well as extremely quiet, with a rating of 70dB(A). All the important operating functions are located on the right-hand panel, which has been completely redesigned, while models equipped with the CommandQuad transmission can be optionally fitted with a Compact CommandArm, with the functions located on the armrest.

Up to four mechanical or electric SCVs are available – the latter is a new option available for the first time on these tractors. Switches on the electrohydraulic joystick are fully programmable, and direction of travel can be changed on both this and the mechanical joystick via a push-button. Driver comfort is also enhanced by mechanical cab suspension and the proven TLS (triple link suspension) front axle, while 360° LED lighting is optionally available for perfect illumination of night work.

The four new four-cylinder models are powered by a 4.5-litre John Deere PowerTech EWL engine, while the 6130M, 6140M and 6145M have a 4.5-litre John Deere PowerTech PSS engine. Larger models are powered by six-cylinder PVS engines with a displacement of 6.8 litres. The smaller 6090M to 6140M tractors also feature Intelligent Power Management (IPM) for the first time, which increases performance by 20hp for PTO work and transport – so the four-cylinder 6140M develops up to an impressive 166hp maximum power with IPM.

Three different gearbox options are offered on the new 6M Series. PowrQuad and AutoQuad are four-step powershift transmissions, while CommandQuad Plus offers fully automatic gear and range shifting without using the clutch. Thanks to EcoShift, the maximum speed of 40kph is achieved at a reduced engine speed of 1590rpm. In addition, AutoClutch means the operator can comfortably stop and restart the tractor simply by using the brake pedal.

The latest AMS and FarmSight solutions include JDLink telematics, which can be ordered ex-factory with a free five-year subscription. All the tractors can be equipped with a StarFire 6000 satellite receiver and the 4240 or 4640 GreenStar displays. Depending on the level of precision required when using AutoTrac automatic steering, SF3 and RTK signals, as well as the free SF1 option, are available.

John Deere’s new 6M Series tractors can be ordered from dealers as of the end of September 2019, in Select, Select+ and Premium specifications to meet different customer requirements.
